Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs convened a cross-ministry task force with Customs, Transport, and Police authorities to investigate businesses suspected of evading import restrictions by disassembling Chinese heavy motorcycles into parts, importing them in batches, and reassembling them domestically. Heavy motorcycles and engines from mainland China are prohibited imports under Article 35 of the Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area. Violators face suspension of import privileges for 2 months to 1 year or revocation of importer registration.
